Roche miners in Spain?

I lived on Bodmin Moor for 25 years and am now living in Spain - well some one has to do it! Very close to us is a mining area, where they used to mine Silver. The name of the area is Roche! Now because in Spanish they very seldom have words ending with che, so we are of course convinced several miners from Roche in Cornwall were here.

There is also close by a Cornish Mine building. Interestingly enough they also have a Miners Song Festival in July/August time.

Is there anyone I can contact who would be able to point me in the right direction to do a bit of research and try and find out how, when, why and who? An email address would be fantastic. Just feel there is a tremendous story buried in Roche mining area, in the Murcia Region of Spain (way down South, near Cartegena)

Woolcock Family

My name is Raymond Terence Cocks and I have researched my family history back to the 1600,s. My family lived at Trerank common, Parkwoon and lastly Oakleigh,Tremodrett Road until the 70,s.
My last relative from Roche died earlier this year and she was my aunt Margaret Jean Woolcock who lived at Oakleigh, Parkwoon and finally out on the Victoria Road. Her daughter Janet Woolcock lives at Carlyon Bay. Margaret woolcock was my fathers sister.

I would be interested to hear from far flung members of my COCK family or even links of interest as I appear to be the direct surviving member of my line apart from my son Mark and new grandson Simon born in April 2005.

I am attaching a copy of my family tree plus links together with a picture of my great grandparents John and Lucy Cock with several of their children.

Any reciprocated pictures, information or family tree details would be welcomed.

Thanks  TERRY COCKS telprint@btinternet.com

Tellam/Cock Family

I'm writing because i'm trying to get to know my family! I just learned my great great grandfather was Johnson Tellam who was born in Dye House about 1831. He married Ann Cock at Roche Church in May 1852. They had a daughter Emlyn Tellam born 1857 in Roche and is my great grandmother.

I'm so excited about find out who my family is......my mother never had any info and nobody has any answers this end. Would you have any suggestions as to anyone who might be familiar with the family........and may even be a long lost relative. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Warm greeting from Nova Scotia, Canada, Roberta

From John Wakefield, Cambridge

I am trying to make contact with a John Edwards who in the mid 1980's lived in Roche, possibly in Victoria Road. He at the time had an old (1939) Bedford motor coach. He is believed to have moved away to a coastal village in the Bude area. possibly Widemouth Bay.

My reason for wanting to contact him is to find out what happened to the coach, if anyone knows of him I would be pleased to hear from them.  jwakefield63@yahoo.co.uk
