Just for fun..
Lucky Stirrups Homemade Natural Horse Fly
Spray Repellent Recipe!!
Find an empty spray bottle in your kitchen cupboard!! Give
it a good clean and make sure the spray works!! add...
A few drops of citronella oil
A few drops of eucalyptus oil
(both you can order online or find in a good chemist! one
bottle will last for years!!)
A dribble of original detol (antiseptic)
A dribble of coat conditioner (for shine and extra perks!)
Fill with water and shake well before you spray
Be careful when you spray your
horses, don't spray any further than to their shoulder as
the wind can often catch it and most horses wont tolerate
it, a fair call on their behalf!
Have a sponge handy to do their
neck and faces, although prepare for the smell to linger on
your hands!!
Spray your fly repellent round the frame of
your stable door, and on your hat before you go riding!!
Apparently flies don't like garlic so its an optional feed
supplement and great for their coats too.
As a money saver you can dilute
fly creams into a spray bottle with water to use all over.
Horse fly sprays are great to get an all over cover but do be gentle
with your horse, we see so many horses wary with all the
lotions and potions, make it an enjoyable experience.
The cool spray on a hot summers day can be a treat if you
apply it in the right way!
I lay no claim to this being
better than any of the other horse fly repellent lotions and
horse fly spray recipe out there,
over the years of trying suggestions of cold tea and vinegar
to spending hundreds of pounds on expensive concoctions,
this is my best natural blend yet!! :o)
